Welcome! Thanks for taking a look at our church website. Brentwood Community United Methodist Church (BCUMC) is a reconciling congregration celebrating over 150 years of continuous ministry.
We know that finding a spiritual community that meets your needs personally or as a family can be a challenging task.
We welcome ALL people regardless of gender, race, class, age, ability, religious affiliation or sexual orientation. We value each one as a precious and unique child of God.
We affirm the questions you may have as you check out churches via websites or visits. We’ll try to answer a few here. Read More >>
People who heard Jacob Lukacs' talk during the August 4, 2024 service asked how they could contribute to his enrolling in the DC Dream Center Leadership School. You can use either the QR code below or CLICK HERE to read about the program and, if you are able, make a contribution.
Members have been receiving text messages from scammers posing as Pastor Hyesung Lee. These texts are typically asking for an urgent favor and are coming from a phone number that does not belong to Pastor Lee or the church.
DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY TEXT OR EMAILS! Please remember that Pastor Lee would not contact a member directly with an emergency request for cash, gift cards or any favors. If you are unsure if an email or text is “real”, please contact the church office, or reach out to Pastor Lee, or Lay Leaders, Dave Funk or Heidi Stark before taking any action. AGAIN, DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY TEXT OR EMAILS without verifying the validity of the message!
We believe love in action can change the world
Our Sundae Sunday event was held on August 18th, and thanks to the generosity of our Church community we collected $234 to support United Women in Faith mission projects. At our August meeting, we agreed to put those funds into immediate action with donations to Shepherd’s Gate and Winter Nights Ministry. We appreciate everyone who helped with this event by supplying items, serving, and donating time, and money to make this a success.
Our program focus this year is “Food, Faith and Fellowship”. Our August meeting was led by Karen Thomas. We learned about “Food Deserts” and “Food Swamps”. A Food Desert is geographic areas where residents may have low income and low access to healthy foods, and a Food Swamp is an area where unhealthy food options are more readily available and affordable than healthier food options. Residents in areas such as these have a higher probability of health problems such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Definitely, food for thought on how we can bring about change! Polly Gallagher will lead our September meeting. Please plan to join for meaningful conversations and tasty treats.
The next United Women in Faith meeting will be on Monday, September 16th at 7pm in the Fellowship Hall. All women are welcome; please consider joining and putting your faith in action! Questions, please contact Jan Schults, United Women in Faith President.

During these days of COVID, there are four ways you can safely worship with us.
- Worship with us in person: masks are strongly encouraged, but we will respect each person’s choice to wear or not wear a mask.
- Join us in a Zoom meeting and you can interact with the Pastor during the service.
- Watch the service live on our YouTube channel.
- Watch a recording of the service later in the week.
Details for on-line options are below.
Because some people cannot worship with us in church, we will continue to provide our services live on Zoom. For those members of our congregation who have a camera and microphone on their device, the service is available LIVE on a ZOOM video conference. People on the ZOOM video conference can see and hear what is happening in the Sanctuary and they also can participate in the worship service during the sharing of Joys and Concerns.
For those members of our congregation who do not have a camera and microphone on their device, the service is available LIVE on a LIVE STREAM. People watching the LIVE STREAM can see and hear what is happening in the Sanctuary. (Note: Click on the small square in the lower right corner of the video to see the service in a full screen.) We use the YouTube streaming service. Some members of the congregation have been able to watch the service using the YouTube app on their big screen smart TVs.
For members of the congregation who cannot worship with us on Sunday mornings, we record our worship services for later viewing. We try very hard to make the recording available around 7:00PM Sunday evenings. (Note: Click on the small square in the lower right corner of the video to see the service in a full screen.)
Join us in the church sanctuary Sunday at 10:30AM for in-person worship!! |
